Ugandan Kob

Ugandan Kob

Around the plains in Queen Elizabeth National Park there are many locations for observing these unique antelope. The young males are often seen jousting as they learn the skills required when they fully mature.

Hippos

A mother hippo and her young, not often seen out on the bank during the day. It was an overcast day so was Ok for them to be out without being sunburnt.

Bull Elephants

Regularly oberved throughout the Queen Elizabeth National Park, especially along the channel between lakes Albert and George.

Tree Lion

Locating these lions prides up a tree is more readily possible in Uganda than anywhere else. Finding 11 or 12 lions up a single tree is an experience to seek out.

Kingfisher

A bird of the riverside, wetland and riverine vegetation, this colourful little kingfisher is a highlight of any boat trip.

Raptors

There is a huge range of raptors to be observed throughout Uganda in all the various environments. Many can be observed in flight but seeing them at roost makes effective identification possible.

Barbets

One of the most unusual birds that can be difficult to see because it is usually seen high up in the canopy.

Ugandan Kob

This young mother with her offspring of only a few hours was wary but prepared to let us watch the youngster feeding for quite a long time. One of several type of antelope that can be found in open areas. Can be found in family herds or in association with other species.
